morales
renata morales' clothing designs are pure joy. intricate pleating, bold pattern, luxurious fabric. if you get a chance to visit her store on st. laurent, montreal – you won’t be disappointed. shop walls are covered with extraordinary and quirky black and white murals by local artist jesse purcell, both mirroring and contrasting morales’ design aesthetic.

montreal calling
i'm off for a weekend break to montreal. the plan is to visit some markets (marche jean-talon) and check out kids' boutiques. i'll leave you with a pic of a favourite coffee spot - merchants of green coffee - definitely worth a visit. stay tuned for la belle ville highlights!

book by its cover
on one of my infinite blog searches i happened upon the most adorable site – book by its cover. a straightforward site whose discerning selection of books (from comics to handmade volumes) highlights the design and art elements in each selection. an ideal site for bookworms, or for those of us whose guilty pleasures include stealing moments in bookstore-cum-coffee shops.

daily dose of imagery is a photoblog dedicated to sam javanrouh’s, “day to day visual experience [of toronto].” javanrough (creative director of optix digital pictures) posts one iconic photo daily – creating a chronological catalogue of an unfettered city. with simplistic headers like: today, day before and day after and candid captions, javanrough creates a uncritical, clean and welcoming environment by which to view the city.

love lies bleeding
i came about a most stunning plant on a walk this week. towering at 5 feet this rope-like flower known as amaranthus is impressive in its magnitude. glorious trailing tails of flowers in crimson recall its colloquial name – love lies bleeding.

a new dove film: onslaught
i am not one to venerate global marketing campaigns, but i came about this dove clip serendipitously and could not ignore its message. let’s give our girls a fighting chance.

poppytalk handmade
saw this on design*sponge and had to share. poppytalk has launched a new site called poppytalk handmade which “is a monthly online street market to showcase, buy and sell handmade goods of emerging design talent from around the world.” this felt hair clip from annie + olive sent my heart aflutter.
